$29.99
DESCRIPTION
Toronto Maple Leafs legend, Johnny Bower, goes airborne to block a high shot. After 12 seasons in the minors, “The China Wall” finally became a permanent NHLer in 1958, when he was almost 34 years old. He lead the Leafs to four Stanley Cups, the last in 1967 at age 42, and played his final game in December 1969 at age 45, making him the oldest regular goalie ever to play an NHL game. Bower was actually born John Kiszkan, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He changed his name in his first season of pro hockey. Bower is also known to have lied about his age at least twice, once to appear older to enlist in the army,
and then later to seem younger to NHL scouts.
